Stop 1Turin, Piedmont
Turin
Royal capital of chocolate, cinema and the Alps
Turin spreads beneath the Alps in a grid of arcaded boulevards and regal squares, the seat of the House of Savoy and Italy's first capital. We arrange a private guide to walk you through Piazza Castello, Palazzo Reale and the porticoed Piazza San Carlo, where historic cafés still serve the bicerin, a layered espresso drink invented here. The Egyptian Museum holds one of the world's great collections outside Cairo. The National Museum of Cinema occupies the Mole Antonelliana, a needle-sharp tower visible across the rooftops.
A day trip takes you to three Savoy residences beyond the city: the Stupinigi hunting lodge, a Baroque palace in open parkland; Rivoli Castle, now a museum of contemporary art; and the Reggia di Venaria Reale, whose monumental halls and restored gardens rival Versailles. Between visits, Via Roma offers Italian fashion and the city's famous chocolates, wrapped and sold in elegant shops that have stood for generations.
Arranged for you: We arrange your hotel, a welcome drink, a private walking tour of the historic center, and admission to the National Museum of Cinema, the Egyptian Museum, Stupinigi Palace, Rivoli Castle and the Reggia di Venaria Reale.

We missed our connecting flight in Munich. I had just got through customs and was looking up the number to call when Trips 2 Italy called me. They told me exactly what to do and they already knew what flight we had been rebooked on.
