Ancient monuments and trattoria tables in Trastevere
We arrange three nights in the historic center, close to the Trevi Fountain and the best streets for evening walks. On your own schedule you visit the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon, or browse the morning market in Campo de' Fiori where vendors stack zucchini blossoms and buffalo mozzarella. We hold reservations for a guided Vatican tour that takes you through the Map Gallery and Raphael Rooms to the Sistine Chapel, ending inside St. Peter's Basilica.
Evenings belong to the neighborhoods. In Trastevere you eat cacio e pepe at a family table, the kitchen open to the dining room, the cobblestones loud with conversation after dark.
Arranged for you: We arrange centrally located hotel accommodation, private Vatican Museums guided tour with St. Peter's Basilica access, and restaurant recommendations in Trastevere and throughout the city center.

Day by day in Rome
Arrive in the Eternal City and make your way to your centrally located hotel. After check-in, take the afternoon to wander the area around your hotel and discover some of Rome’s iconic outdoor sights, such as the Trevi Fountain. In the evening, immerse yourself in local life by dining in a characteristic Roman neighborhood like Trastevere, where you’ll enjoy authentic Roman cuisine and a vibrant atmosphere. Return to your hotel for your first overnight stay in Rome.
Enjoy your first breakfast at the hotel then spend your morning discovering the highlights of Rome’s city center. You may wish to stop by areas such as the Spanish Steps or the Pantheon to do some sightseeing. Alternatively, you could visit one of Rome’s open-air markets, such as the daily market in Campo de’ Fiori, where local vendors sell fresh fruits, vegetables and other culinary products. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a family-owned restaurant (your Trips 2 Italy travel specialists will give you plenty of restaurant recommendations). Then, in the afternoon you will take an excursion to the Catacombs that will include stops at several religious sites including the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Dinner tonight will be at a typical trattoria, where you will have the chance to taste one of Rome’s famous pasta dishes such as carbonara (pasta with egg, cured pork, cheese and black pepper) or cacio e pepe (pasta with Pecorino Romano cheese and freshly ground black pepper). Buon appetito!
Enjoy breakfast, then continue exploring Rome’s city center at your own pace. Consider visiting the Colosseum and Roman Forum for a journey into Ancient Rome or opt for a museum like the Borghese Gallery (advance reservations recommended). After lunch, join a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, where you’ll see the Tapestry Gallery, Map Gallery, Raphael Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel. The tour ends inside St. Peter’s Basilica, allowing you time to explore its chapels and crypt independently. Afterwards, perhaps visit Castel Sant’Angelo for scenic views before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant and your final overnight in Rome.

Sorrento
Pompeii's ruins, Vesuvian vineyards, and coastal drives
Your private driver meets you in Rome and heads south to Pompeii, where a guide walks you through the forum, the bakery ovens, and the frescoed villas frozen by Vesuvius in 79 AD. After lunch you continue to Sorrento and check in for four nights.
We arrange a day with a pasta maker who shows you how to twist cavatelli and cut lagane, then a farmhouse lunch on the volcano's slopes where the wine comes from vines rooted in ash. Another day your driver takes the Amalfi Coast road to Positano's stacked houses and Amalfi's cathedral cloister, stopping for spaghetti alle cozze overlooking the water. On Capri you visit the Gardens of Augustus and, weather allowing, boat into the Blue Grotto where sunlight turns the cave electric blue. Between excursions you walk Sorrento's lanes, taste Limoncello in a ceramic-tiled shop, and eat grilled pesce spada at a table above the marina.
Arranged for you: We arrange private driver from Rome with Pompeii guided tour and lunch stop, four nights' accommodation, private driver and pasta-making visit with Vesuvian farmhouse lunch, full-day private Amalfi Coast tour with lunch in Amalfi, ferry tickets and guided Capri tour including Blue Grotto access (weather permitting), and restaurant recommendations throughout Sorrento.
